The Itty Bitty Committee Needs YOU

***To donate to one specific animal, when on the donation page select "Honor" where it asks to honor or remember someone. This is found just above the button to finalize the donation. From there it will ask "to whom you want to recognize?", which is where you will list the name. If left blank, the donation will go to the care of this entire group and you will get updates from every group member.***

Group Members: Kitana, Jewel, Max, Baby, and Grumpy!

Our Itty Bitty Committee spotlights our tiniest of dogs at the sanctuary. These little ones range in temperament from bashful to full on cuddlers. Each one has a different story but all are loved just the same.

Most of our Itty Bitty dogs are older and have medical issues that need extra tending to. We ask that you consider becoming a monthly donor to help us continue to provide for each member of this group.

Monthly sponsors will provide a steady stream of funds that ensures each dog can live the rest of their days happy and healthy here at the farm. Funds will go directly to their care for food, medical treatments, safe housing, and the love and care of our wonderful staff.

Monthly sponsors will receive regular updates with a picture of how your consistent funds are helping our Itty Bitty Committee and the other animals here at the Farm.

Kitana:

Kitana is a tiny 17 pound Dachshund, that is worried the world is out to get her. This fear has led to defensiveness and aggression towards people and other dogs if she feels uncomfortable. Once she has had the time to get to know people and respects and trusts them, she adores people, especially men! Kitana loves to play and will run all over when she feels comfortable.

She has had the opportunity to go to training and made a lot of progress with them, showing that Kitana has a lot of potential and should be given the chance to learn and grow and be given a place to live out her life! Unfortunately, most fosters are not equipped to handle this level of training long term so Kitana has come back to the farm.

Kitana has settled in beautifully at the farm! She is a tiny pup with a huge heart. She loves her new life on the farm, whether she’s napping in an appropriately tiny bed, running as fast as she can across the yard, wrestling with the other (bigger!) dogs, or wiggling in your lap for some love! Her fears sometimes make her withdrawn and defensive, but once you earn her trust, Kitana is devotedly loving. She loves to be a part of anything that’s happening; whether it’s a leisurely stroll or an action-packed ride down the trails on the farm, Kitana will be by your side with her tail wagging wildly and a smile on her face.

Grumpy:

Grumpy came to the farm back in 2013, with a big group of Chihuahuas that were rescued from a hoarding case. Every single one of those Chihuahuas were able to find a loving home except for Grumpy. His hard past seemed to effect him more than the other dogs he came in with.

We took a chance and sent him up to NY into foster care in hopes he would eventually enjoy a traditional home and family. But he just never got comfortable around people, so we brought him back to the farm to live out his days!

He does really well with the consistent staff and routines at the farm, but he still would rather not have anyone touch him and likes to keep his distance. His name fits him perfectly though. He likes his space and he's a little demanding about when he wants his food. But he does wondefrul here and we are happy to give him the home he needs and deserves!

Baby:

Poor Baby was dumped by her owners at a local kill shelter at 12 years old!

She was terrified and seniors already have such a slim chance of making it out of shelters alive, we knew we had to do something...

We brought Baby to the farm in hopes of one day finding her the forever home that she deserves. This sweet senior is VERY shy when first meeting her, but once you take the time to get to know her, she is such a love! She loves her people and does the cutest prance when she's playing. We are still looking for her forever home, but until then she will call the farm her home.

Max:

Max is one of our newer dogs at the farm. He came to us in late 2021 from a shelter. Max entered the shelter with a few other dogs who were pretty skittish but not nearly as scared as he was. A few found homes and some were even taken on by our parent rescue LCAR where they found homes. All that was left was Max and due to his temperament, we were his only option.

Now that Max has been here a little while, he has started to settle in to the routine. He still doesn't like to be handled but is learning to take treats from staff. He has also made a few doggy friends and enjoys hanging out in the yards with them. So far Max has only been around our small to medium sized dogs, but he has enjoyed them all the same. We will keep working on Max so that he can learn to trust us even more.

Jewel:

Jewel arrived at the farm after being stuck in a shelter with her friend, Poohbet. They were best friends and had been through a lot together. Once we got them to the farm, we took them to the vet and discovered both girls had extensive medical needs. Both had to get masses removed and Jewel's mass came back with cancer. While Poobet's masses were noncancerous, she was heartworm positive and had to go through treatment. Both of these girls have been through a lot with losing their home, being stuck in a shelter, and having health problems that needed to be treated. But the one thing that has been constant for these two is that they have always had each other. With Jewel's cancer she will be a forever resident at the farm. Poobet has gotten a clean bill of health and has been adopted by a wonderful family in New York!
