The Cat Corral is one of two groups of cats that shares the main room of our cat area. Within this group we have cats who came from our LCAR adoption program and a few that came straight from shelters.

Each of these kitties has a different reason for why they call the sanctuary home, whether it be medical or behavioral. All of them get along great with each other and the other group of cats that lives with them.

We love being a safety net for these kitties, but to do so we need to have monthly sponsors supporting their care.

Monthly sponsors will provide a steady stream of funds that ensures these cats can live the rest of their days happy and healthy here at the farm. Funds will go directly to their care for food, medical treatments, safe housing, and the love and care of our wonderful staff.

Monthly sponsors will receive regular updates with a picture of how your consistent funds are helping this group and the other animals here at the Farm.

Lilly:

Lilly was formally an outdoor cat until one day a cruel neighbor shot her in the head. After surgery and a long healing time, Lilly will now likely call the farm her forever home.

After the shooting, Lilly was a changed cat. She would scare easily at times and would dart away. While she is much more comfortable at the farm now, Lilly now has to deal with a lifetime of medical issues due to this inhumane act. Lilly was left blind in one eye and with occasional seizures. While she is on medicine that controls her seizures very well, she will have to be on this medicine for the rest of her life.

While Lilly could still make the perfect pet for the perfect home, finding that home would be very difficult. So Lilly calls the farm her home. You can help fund Lilly's long term care here at the farm by becoming her Animal Angel (monthly sponsor).

Mimosa:

Mimosa joined our program as a very young kitten. She was adopted into a home and stayed there for 3 years. Sadly, her owners could not keep her anymore and she had to be returned. The farm took her in to give her time to adjust from the change.

Being that she is a shy cat, Mimosa is not the most adoptable kitty. She takes awhile to warm up to people and prefers a calm and relaxed environment. She would love to be in a home with few other animals and patient owners who let her socialize on her terms.

When you gain her trust, you fall in love with her very quickly, I know I have!

Boo Boo:

Boo Boo came to St Francis Farm in 2016 with 30 other cats and 50 dogs who needed sanctuary from a shelter that was in the direct path of Hurricane Matthew. He was a sweet boy, that all the staff loved and couldn't wait to see him find a home of his own.

In early 2017, Boo Boo got the chance to go up to NY to find his forever home. Over time, however, Boo Boo's family realized that their home was not the right spot for him. He couldn't handle long amounts of attention and would bite if he became over stimulated. With small children in the house, his family knew Boo Boo couldn't stay with them any longer.

Now Boo Boo is back at the farm, where he will stay. He has formed many friendships and spends a lot of time with his best friend Jerry. Boo Boo is also the cat room greeter and makes sure he gets the most attention and pets when you first walk in. He lets all of us know that he gets pets when he wants and for as long as he wants. We live on Boo Boo's schedule.

Tommy:

Originally coming to our parent rescue, Last Chance Animal Rescue, from Oconee Humane Society in January 2019, TOMMY was lucky enough to escape euthanasia in the shelter. He was a 7 year old middle aged man at the top of the euthanasia list after being dumped at the shelter for “being too big” for his owners.

Tommy made his way to New York in the hopes of finding a forever home, but a series of medical setbacks has made the farm become his forever home. Tommy suffers from chronic ear infections. He has a bulla-polyp in his right ear, laying against a nerve, making it extremely dangerous to remove as it can cause paralysis or death. His left ear is abnormal in formation as well. Eventually surgery may be needed down the line, but it’s too dangerous at the moment for him. So we’re keeping him comfortable and he’s living a happy life at the farm, but in order to sustain that, he needs monthly sponsors!

James Dean:

James Dean came to the farm as a kitten back in 2015 and has never left. He is a beautiful boy, but can be a little trouble maker, making it hard to find him the perfect home.

So, he will likely call the farm his forever home and he is perfectly happy with that. James loves to sleep in the sun all day and play with the other resident cats here at the farm.

Jerry:

Jerry was dumped at a Petco in NY while our parent rescue, Last Chance Animal Rescue, was holding an adoption event there. He was just a kitten and terrified.

Luckily, an amazing foster stepped up to offer Jerry a temporary home while he got used to living in a home with people and until they could find him the perfect home. After months and months of working with him on socialization, Jerry what still quite scared of people.

Jerry's foster realized that finding him a traditional home would be near impossible. That is where the farm comes in. Since arriving, Jerry has really settled in. He is best friends with Boo Boo and is almost always with him. They look like they could be twins. Boo Boo is a social butterfly and loves people, and he has helped Jerry get more comfortable with them. Jerry still doesn't want to be held and cuddled but does like to be petted and will rub up against you. He has come a long way since he was a kitten.

Oscar:

Oscar came to the farm in late 2021 when he was originally set to go on transport to our partners in New York. He was at risk at a shelter and they had reached out to us to help him. We pulled him with every intention to have him go into our adoption program. When he went to get his health certification for travel they found a high grade heart murmur and decided it was not safe for him to travel.

With his extra medical issues, we know that it will be hard to find him a home. For that reason we have provided a spot for him here at the sanctuary. Oscar has adjusted fantastically and has really blossomed since arriving. We have learned that he enjoys riding on your shoulders and endless hours of petting. He is one of the most affectionate cats we have here. When you are in a room, he will spend his entire time meowing at you and thinking of a way to climb up on your shoulders. He is quite the character and we do love him.
