Meet the Bashful Beauties
The Bashful Beauties - Acorn, Amber, Marty, Tiger, Mattie, Suzy, Fiona, and Martha, are exactly what their name states. All of them were very unsocialized/feral when they first arrived at St Francis Farm. Most were very close to being euthanized at local shelters for this reason. Over the years we have worked with each individually, and several of them now trust certain staff members. Watching them grow and become more outgoing is some of the most rewarding things we see here at the farm.
Far too often these types of dogs are simply not given a chance at life. It can take months to years before they are comfortable socializing with humans. That is why it is so important to have a place like St. Francis Farm Sanctuary for these dogs. We ask that you consider donating monthly for their care by becoming their Animal Angel. Funds will go directly to their care for food, medical treatments, safe housing, and the love and care of our wonderful staff. Monthly sponsors will help ensure these dogs can live the rest of their days happy and healthy here on the farm.

Martha:
When we first met Martha she was terrified, huddled in a cage in a kill shelter with her 5 puppies. They were all caught together by animal control in a big group of feral dogs. Martha had never received any love from humans. So, naturally, she was terrified of even being touched.
Unfortunately, to the shelter staff, this meant moving all 6 up on the list for euthanasia. St Francis Farm stepped in and brought all 6 of them to the farm and immediately started working with them. With time and love, 3 of her puppies rehabbed beautifully and found their forever homes, while we are still working with the others.
Martha is still a little timid when meeting a person for the first time and letting them touch her. But she now loves her people and gets excited to be around us. It's just going to take a little more time and love and the perfect family to find a home for this sweet girl.

Fiona:
Gorgeous Fiona came to the farm with her sister, Molly. They were both abandoned in a yard after their owner moved away. They are completely feral, but we were luckily able to trap them and bring them to the farm.
Sadly, Molly passed away from severe heartworm, but Fiona is still at the farm and will likely call it her forever home. While she is terrified of people and mostly wants to keep to herself, she has already made great strides with us and made several canine friends here at the farm! We can't wait to watch her continue to grow with us!

Tiger:
Tiger was in a local SC shelter when we found him. He was completely feral and terrified. Since he didn't want human contact, he was quickly put on the euthanasia list. We stepped in just in time to pull him to the safety of St Francis Farm. Tiger has learned to trust our staff to a certain degree. He knows he is safe here and has actually learned to even sit for treats. But he still likes his space and would rather not be touched. Because of that, Tiger will likely call the farm his forever home. He loves it here and does amazing with the other dogs and helps new feral dogs come out of their shells.

Marty:
Marty is Martha's pup and was rescued from euthanasia as a little guy by St. Francis Farm, saving him and his family. The whole family was terrified of humans and our staff has worked tirelessly with them all to help them live happy lives. Three of his siblings socialized quickly and were adopted. Marty, his mother Martha, and his brother Colby have all made great strides and are enjoying their lives here at the farm. Marty still has a long way to go in trusting humans, and he will likely call the farm his forever home.

Amber & Acorn:
Sisters Amber and Acorn arrived at an overcrowded shelter when they were just under a year old. These two were extremely unsocialized and consistently overlooked for adoption. They were at high risk of not making it out of the shelter and for that reason, St. Francis Farm stepped in and brought these girls home in the fall of 2019.
These girls have really made themselves at home on the farm spending their days together enjoying the space to play and run.

Mattie:
Mattie and her sister, Suzy (below), came to us from a crowded shelter in North Carolina. These two girls were part of a group of 7 dogs surrendered by their owner for reasons unknown. At the extremely small shelter, they were terrified and wouldn't even stand to walk. With limited space for dogs, the likelihood of them getting adopted was slim to none. The only outlet for Mattie and Suzy was a rescue. Luckily for these two girls, St. Francis Farm rescued them. Within a week at the farm, these girls kept their tails wagging, interacted with staff, and explored their new home.
