Honor Queen Elizabeth
We extend our heartfelt condolences to The Royal Family as we join the world in mourning the loss of a beloved Monarch, who reigned for 70 years. Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Scottish estate Balmoral, where she had spent much of the summer. Her death is a major loss for the country, triggering an outpouring of international affection and grief.
The Royal Family has encouraged mourners to make a donation to the charity of their choice to remember the Queen, who spent her life dedicated to her royal duties and helping others.
While she gave the impression of a serious demeanor, those who knew her described her as having a mischievous sense of humor and a talent for mimicry in private company. The Queen was known for making history, and for her steadfast leadership and unwavering love and devotion to Prince Phillip who preceded her in death.
As a life-long dog lover and supporter of so many charities, The Queen will always occupy a special place in our hearts. An accomplished equestrian she adored the company of her corgis, often keeping three and four at a time and thirty over her lifetime.. As her children married, and she was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren, more dogs joined the family. Soon there were rescue dogs running alongside her beloved corgis and with that so grew her appreciation for rescues and their needs.
Her Majesty The Queen became a Patron of Battersea Dogs Home on 18 May 1956 and was a tremendous supporter over six decades, helping ensure the charity’s vital work and contribution to society was fully recognized. In 2015 the Queen toured the new facilities for stray and abandoned pets at Battersea and promised the rescues "across the pond" that England had the resources available to ensure the wellbeing of the dogs that she so dearly loved.
We ask you to consider a donation in the Queen’s memory to help support Last Chance Animal Rescue and St. Francis Farm. Like Battersea Dogs Home we are committed to providing for animals that haven’t the benefit of a family or a home to call their own.
